Origins: Imbolc originated from the Celts in Neolithic Ireland and Scotland.

It is also known as Saint Brigid's Day, the feast day of Ireland's patron saint.

Meaning: The word "imbolc" means "in the belly of the Mother"

It symbolizes the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It is a time to prepare for the change of seasons.

Celebration Ideas:

-Candles and fires are common symbols of Imbolc and are often used in rituals to honor the goddess Brigid and to purify and cleanse the home. Consider lighting candles or a fire in your home to celebrate Imbolc.

-Some people make Brigid's crosses, which are symbols of protection for the home. Corn dollies are often made as well.

-People decorate with symbols of spring, such as seeds, baby animals, nests and eggs, and bunnies to represent fertility.

-Some People visit holy wells, sacred stones and other ancient sites in their area.

-Cleaning house in preparation for spring is a common activity.

Colors Of Imbolc: White and light blue are the colors of Imbolc because they associate with purity and renewal. That makes them fitting colors to wear and decorate with. Consider incorporating white clothing items into your outfit, such as a white dress or a white blouse. Greens and yellows are also perfect for Imbolc styles.
