Canada Post Labour Dispute & USA Tarrifs
CANADA POST Labour Disruption
Canada Post is currently still accepting packages. The Canada Post Union (CUPW) has announced overtime bans as of May 23, 2025. They could go on strike at any time, with zero notice. We have LOTS of couriers to choose from, including UPS, Purolator, Canpar, FedEx, and others. Couriers are usually faster and lower cost than Canada Post anyway.
Best Rate - is whoever is the lowest cost option to get your package to you. At this time, most Best Rate packages are being sent by courier, with the exception of orders marked Best Rate [CP]. The [CP] means your parcel is likely go go with Canada Post (most often seen in rural areas), so you may want to upgrade shipping to a courier. Please send us an email with any concerns.
Within Canada - Your order will ship by courier UNLESS you choose Canada Post OR Best Rate [CP]. If Best Rate shows something other than [CP] it will go by courier.
USA - Orders marked Best Rate will go with standard/ground couriers in almost all cases, although it may still be delivered by USPS in some instances. Due to Tariff issues, items with items made in China or Hong Kong MAY BE SENT Canada Post, and may be delayed.
International - We will provide you with all your options, as usual.
When in doubt select a courier option at checkout when you order.
USA TARIFFS
For our USA customers - The last we heard on tariffs is that items from China or Hong Kong may have an extra cost when you receive them. That is, items made elsewhere are still arriving without additional fees. We invite you to ask us if any item may be potentially affected. This is a fluid issue and we're keeping watch.
These fees, if applicable, are payable to the US Government on entry. In addition, carriers may charge a fee to you to collect these fees. The 'brokerage' fee may be higher with ground based courier shipments such as UPS Standard. Best Rate orders will be shipped by postal mail when it contains items made in China or Hong Kong, unless otherwise specified. If you want courier, we suggest UPS 3-day/Expedited/Saver/Express, or Express/Air services from any other courier. As far as we know, this only affects orders where some or all of the items are made in China or Hong Kong. Email us for details if you want to know where an item is made. Orders without items made in China or Hong Kong will likely be shipped by courier while Canada Post threatens strike action.
As always, we thank you for your business.
