From its whimsically tilted gas lamppost to its “Santa” North Pole license plate, “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” is a hand-made treasure through and through. Among its many exceptional hand-crafted features are a real metal bicycle frame with an antique, oil-rubbed finish, actual rubber tires with metal spokes (and well-placed patches!), and a bag filled to bursting with the classic toys of childhoods long ago. The sense of motion created by the sculptor also amazes; notice how Santa’s bright hat and full beard fight a headwind as he leans forward to keep his balance, and his rear flag ripples in the midnight breeze. But not even the considerable weight of his patched up toy sack can hold him back!
