On June 6, 1944, some 156,000 Allied troops - American, British and Canadian - displayed unforgettable heroism when they stormed the heavily fortified coastline of Occupied France in Normandy. This pivotal battle, known as D-Day, was the long-awaited beginning to the end of the war in Europe, and helped ensure our freedom for years to come. Intended as collectors' items, each non-monetary commemorative coin in this collection commemorates D-Day's 75th anniversary by featuring a sepia-toned image of the Allied forces embarking on D-Day.
